La Trinidad Cave Paintings

The most popular and accessible day trip from Mulegé.  This excursion is fun, interesting and educational.

The first stop is a local citrus orchard with many different fruits from oranges to "limones reales".

At your next stop, which is about halfway to the rancho with the rock art, Salvadore provides interesting information about the plants and animals of the desert.

Everything from identification and medicinal purposes of the plants, trees and cactus, to the cultural history of the Cochimi Indians.

Next, at Rancho Las Tinajitas, a working rancho, you will see and learn how goat cheese is made by hand, how ropes and lassos are made, and tanning hide to make leather.

From Rancho La Trinidad is the hike up the arroyos and canyons to the cave painting sites, where Salvador explains all history and information about these fascinating historical sites.
